You've got a story to tell

Your content is how people get to know you. It's how your message shows up in the world. Your voice. What could be more important?

You have a powerful message to share. My strength is in building collaborative relationships that add value above and beyond your expectations, and I do that by helping you to articulate the message you couldn't find words for.

It's easy to overlook or take for granted the importance of refining your message, but it's what sets you apart and gives your voice impact and authority.

Your content is a story. Make it a compelling one.

What makes your perspective or content unique? What do you really, really want people to know, and why should they care?

That's what I'll help you define and articulate.

I offer several exciting ways for us to work together:

My developmental and strategic services are designed to help you clearly understand your message and deliver it in a way your audience will resonate with, no matter where you are in your content creation process.

I'm currently open to new writing projects and creative collaborations. I'm available for blog posts, articles, website content, and email newsletters/marketing sequences, especially on the following topics:

  • User experience design (research, interaction design, information architecture, content strategy, accessibility)

  • Technology (enterprise systems, IT service management, information management)

  • Personal development (confidence, self-esteem, fear, self-care, healing, wellness, transformation)

  • Mental health (particularly anxiety and depression)

  • Disabilities (particularly invisible ones)

  • Social investment/advocacy

  • Beauty (cosmetics, skincare, fashion)

  • Lifestyle (aromatherapy, yoga, design, travel)

  • Medievalism (general, as well as the Arthurian canon, and the poetry of Dante and Petrarch)

  • Literature (analysis, criticism, reviews, genres including science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, speculative fiction, and poetry)

  • Video games (all genres, but primarily RPGs)

Let's work together!

Whether you're an aspiring writer or already established, you need an outside perspective and fresh eyes to ensure that your work is delivering the right message to your audience.

Hiring an editor is the best gift you'll ever give your content.

When we write, we're often too caught up in the creative process to be objective about whether or not that message is as clear and resonant as it could be. Or, for that matter, whether it's relevant to the people you're ostensibly writing for.

Maybe the words don't quite reflect what you're going for. Your true, precise meaning gets lost in your excitement, or you miss logical gaps connecting ideas because you know what you mean.

You can't afford not to have an editor.

Your content is your unique point of view, plain and simple. When there's typos, an inconsistent writing style, problems with narrative flow, or ideas that are unclear, it hurts your credibility.

I help you elevate your message and speak with clarity and purpose.

I love to teach, and I include comprehensive comments and notes in any editing project so you can see the reasoning behind my suggestions (as well as compliments).

I offer a range of editing services, defined below as per the Editors' Association of Canada

Substantive/structural editing

Clarifying and/or reorganizing a manuscript for content and structure. Changes may be suggested to or drafted for the author. May include negotiating changes with author.

Stylistic editing

Clarifying meaning, eliminating jargon, smoothing language and other non-mechanical line-by-line editing. May include checking or correcting reading level; creating or recasting tables and/or figures; negotiating changes with author.

Creating a new manuscript or parts of a manuscript on the basis of content and research supplied by an author. May include some research and writing of original material.

Copy editing

Editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style; checking for consistency of mechanics and internal consistency of facts; marking head levels and approximate placement of art; notifying designer of any unusual production requirements. May include Canadianizing; metrication; providing or changing system of citations; writing or editing captions and/or credit lines; writing running heads; listing permissions needed and/or obtaining them; providing or editing prelims, back matter, cover copy and/or CIP data. May also include negotiating changes with author.

Every package includes up to three (3) full reviews to ensure a polished end result. Until you feel like your ideas have been fully heard and realized, our work together isn't done.

I provide custom quotes for my clients based on the type of editing required, as well as scope and timeline of their project.
